Battery Bank Replacement
This page is one of four related pages.
- Battery Bank Replacement
- Battery selection, battery installation plan, and battery box contruction are discussed in submenu pages.
- Battery Charging Plans
- Battery charging is primarily provided by solar panels and a wind generator. A shore power charger will be installed but is expected to be rarely used. This section also discusses charge controllers and battery monitoring.
- Planned Electrical Work
- This page focuses on wiring and considerations for major loads. The electric auxilliary has its own page and submenus. Other major loads include refrigeration and the possible addition of a heat pump for cabin A/C and heat.
- Electric Auxilliary Propulsion
- The electric auxilliary propulsion replaces the diesel. Electrically it is a major 48V load and is the reason for the large 48V battery bank.
Three battery banks will be installed, 48V, 24V, and 12V. The sizing of the 48V battery bank is discussed in the Electric Auxilliary Propulsion web page. The battery selection and bank sizes are described in the Battery Selection web page. The Battery Installation Plan web page describes the plan to use two battery modules and the planned placement of the modules. The Battery Box Construction describes the boxes used to hold the battery modules, providing measurements and construction details.
