Completed Rebedding, Refinishing, and Joinery
Rebedding was a priority due to leaks. Attention was needed to protect exterior brightwork from cracking. So far only these high priority exterior items have been addressed.
Rebed Mast Collar and Openning Ports and Hatches
The mast collar was leaking when a driving rain pushed water under the collar. This used to leak down the mast and into the cabin near the mast. The port forward cabin openning port was leaking in a driving rain. No other ports were known to leak but the bedding compound may be decades old and they were all rebedded. The aft chainplates also leak into the cabin. The other chainplates didn't leak but were rebedded.
Leaks at the chainplates caused sidedeck damage that was addressed by Richardson's Marine Services in 2020. See the Deck Repair section of the Completed Fiberglass Work and Painting web page. As part of that repair Kent Richardson rebedded all of the forward chainplates. Kent has also rebedded the mast collar and all ports and hatches.
Refinish Exterior Teak
Sanding and oiling teak is labor intensive but nominal cost (if the owner does it). In summer 2020 all of the exterior teak was thoroughly sanded and oil applied. Unfortunately while at Belmont Boatworks in late fall 2022 the boat was parked under pitch pine and then got a coating of dirt while in very dusty indoor storage. The exterior teak will now have to be sanded again. Oiling should be done at least annually if the boat is in the sun, every year or two if not exposed to sunlight.
